Palmetto Dunes Golf Course is a Resort, 54 hole golf facility located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The facility has three unique eighteen hole courses. They are The Arthur Hills Course, The George Fazio Course, and The Robert Trent Jones Course.
Palmetto Dunes Golf Course, The Robert Trent Jones Course, first opened for play in 1969. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The Robert Trent Jones Course Golf Course was extensively renovated in 2002. The renovation work, led by longtime Jones protege, Roger Rulewich, involved reshaping and restructuring tees, greens and bunkers. Fairways were elevated and reshaped, and the course's natural drainage was improved by linking it with the golf resort's unique, 11-mile lagoon system.
The Robert Trent Jones Course is a links-style design that plays out towards the ocean. Some of the large greens are undulating, and the fairways are well manicured. The terrain is flat, and some holes play alongside lagoons.
This resort features The Arthur Hills Course, the most challenging of the three, has fairways that are shaped according to the natural contours of the terrain. This course was refurbished in 1995 during which all eighteen greens were rebuilt. Water hazards come into play on many holes, and the medium-sized greens are somewhat undulating. The George Fazio Course was also built on the natural terrain, but it was designed like the more traditional courses. The small greens are severely undulating, and the fairways are tree lined.
Today, the lagoon system winds its way through 11 of the golf course's 18 holes. When the renovation was completed, the Jones Oceanfront Course was named the 2003 Golf Course of the Year by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association.
The signature hole of the Hilton Head golf course, the par-five 10th, offers a spectacular view of the ocean. In fact, it's one of only two oceanfront holes on all of Hilton Head Island. The course is so beautiful and so challenging that it was selected to host the second round of play in the 27th Annual Hilton Head Island Celebrity Golf Tournament. The Jones Oceanfront Course plays 6,122 yards from the middle white tees.

I had played the Fazio, and made two attempts to play this - rained out the first time. Great course, great sight lines, and fair - not punishing for us average golfers. Was a pleasure even though it was cart paths only and a few wet spots due to lots of rain. Just a fun day even though I did not score particularly well. Loved it!

The prettiest course in Palmetto Dunes Resort. Gorgeous back nine. Holes are challenging, but fair (except for #8, a brutal par 3). Difficult to play just nine holes as the ninth hole doesn't bring you back to the club house. You're way the heck out there, somewhere...but there is a small snack bar at the turn where you can take a break (sort of). The head pro, Doug Weaver (a former PGA tour player) is a fantastic teacher. Do yourself a favor and take some lessons. You'll like this course a lot.

We played this course several times over the two month stay. The closer it got to March the slower the play was. Great course. Great view of the ocean--my wife's favorite holes. Great value according to Hilton Head pricing.

I loved playing this course and the ocean views are stunning. The staff was excellent and the best pro shop I have been in. Was definitely worth the cost. The addition of the advanced GPS systems in the cart was extremely helpful. I can not wait to play this course again.
